First Trimester Highlights

So as promised here are the finer points of my first trimester which was approximately from May 5th, 2010 – July 27, 2011

* I found out I was pregnant on May 30th, 2010. I had just got in from a family trip to Disney the night before and was down at the beach with my cousin Christina when I was feeling nauseous and had mentioned I was a day “late.” We decided to go get a pregnancy test just to see. Fully expecting the test to be negative, I went to check it and froze in shock. Christina asked me what it said and I told her, “It says baby Ashlynn is getting a playmate.” I told Jason later that night. We were both in shock, but once the shock wore off we were both excited (and scared to death!)

* I had some bleeding and cramping on 6/6/2010 and thought I was having a miscarriage. I went the next day to visit a certain family member at a local hospital who drew my blood and checked my hCG levels. They were at 2,000 which was spot on for where I was in my pregnancy. To be on the safe-side I had said person draw it again a few days later and my levels had more than doubled so me and baby seemed to be safe!

*1st doctors appointment was 6/10/2010 –Not very exciting. Just a lot of questions and blood.

*1st Ultrasound was 6/19/2010: My pregnancy was dated at 7w3d and we saw the heartbeat! Jason, my mom, my dad, and Heidi came with me. We found out I had a Sub-Chorionic bleed though, which is a small blood clot between the placenta and my uterus. We were told I needed to take it easy and be off my feet as much as possible and hopefully it would go away by 20wks. This is what caused the spotting I was having.

* We heard the heartbeat for the first time on July 10, 2010. Jason couldn’t stop smiling and I couldn’t stop laughing. It was the most amazing thing I had ever heard in my entire life!

*I got sick with a stomach virus in late July that caused me to lose about 7lbs (on top of some weight I had already lost) So at the start of my pregnancy I weighed 140lbs and by the end of the 1st trimester I weighed 128lbs.

* I didn’t have much morning sickness my first trimester (as in vomiting or constantly feeling as if I would be ill). I did however have a lot of food aversions. The only thing s I really wanted to eat during this trimester was cheese, fruits and veggies (including yes, you guessed it PICKLES). The thought of any type of fried food made my stomach turn. And to drink was just a lot of water, juice, and milk.

Well I think that takes care of all the finer points of my first trimester!

Getting Caught Up!

So, I wish I would have started doing this sooner, but no time like the present, right?

I’m exactly 26 weeks pregnant. Holy Moly! And I have missed blogging and writing about so much of my pregnancy out of shear laziness. This makes me sad, but I can’t change the time that has already passed. I can only focus on the here and now and whatever may happen in the future. I chronicled some of my first trimester in mini journal entries. After about week 10 however, I fell off the wagon and have checked in monthly high lighting important events etc. Well, now I’m ready to keep at minimal a weekly update on this here blog.

For all my “extended” Family’s benefit, I am going to type and post summaries of both my first and second trimester key events that have taken place so far.

Well, I hope you all enjoy my blog and hopefully this will serve as a fun way to keep up with all things Charlotte!!
